About Us
Our Mission
At Southside Tutoring, we are dedicated to providing high-quality tutoring services that cater to the needs of each student. Our experience as special education teachers in the alternative school setting for students with emotional and behavioral disabilities in ages 5 through 18 give us the knowledge and passion to help students to achieve academic success and reach their full potential through hands on learning, individualized sessions and an engaging and motivating environment.
Our Tutors
Katie:
Katie has been a special education teacher for 5 years in age ranges from 4th grade up to high school. She has taught all core subjects as well as personal finance, computers, typing and psychology. Katie has had years of experience tutoring elementary students, as well as adults with disabilities. She is currently also in school to get her masters in social work! Katie specializes in working with students to improve their math and reading skills, as well as social emotional learning.

Dawn:
Dawn has been a special education teacher for 3 years and a paraprofessional for 4 years before that. She has been teaching grades 4th - 6th and has experience teaching all core subjects! Dawn has her masters in English Language Learning. Dawn specializes in helping students feel confident in their reading abilities, handwriting and independent ELA skills.

Both Dawn and Katie have been working in an alternative school setting where social emotional learning is a major part of student success. They are trauma informed and know the skills to help students who may struggle with behaviors, handling their emotions or social interactions. Both Dawn and Katie are equipped to help any child that may need more support in academics, behaviors or social emotional learning. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out!
